FLIR Systems wins Navy contract

Posted on

The Navy awarded Oregon-based FLIR Systems a $136.6 million open-ended contract to provide equipment and services for its helicopter and unmanned aerial vehicle programs.

The Navy told The Oregonian that the fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity arrangement is a sole-source deal and was awarded to FLIR because it was the “only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.”

FLIR also makes thermal imaging cameras for the marine industry.

Technically, the contract is for FLIR’s Brite I and Brite II systems, data and engineering services to provide intelligence, surveillance, detection and targeting for day and night operations. FLIR is immediately paid $4.2 million. The Navy said the work is expected to be completed by August 2018.
