RBFF celebrates its 15th anniversaryPosted on
The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
The group, whose mission is to increase participation in recreational boating and fishing and increase public awareness of the need to protect aquatic resources, is taking a look back at some of the major milestones it has achieved during the past decade and a half.
“I’m proud to say that RBFF has accomplished a great deal in the last 15 years, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our federal, state and industry partners,” RBFF president and CEO Frank Peterson said in a statement. “Certainly, we have many things to celebrate, but our journey to increase participation in boating and fishing has only just begun.”
Perhaps most notable is the foundation’s Take Me Fishing campaign, which has seen increasing success in reaching potential anglers year over year. Last year, Take Me Fishing made 1,219,146 referrals from its website to online state fishing license pages, up 11 percent from the previous year. There have been 1.5 million queries performed on the Take Me Fishing Boat Ramp App. The campaign has 185,468 fans on social media channels and TakeMeFishing.org referred 109,224 people to state boat registration pages last year, up 18 percent from the previous year.
This summer, Take Me Fishing said it was partnering with the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Media Networks to encourage children and families to connect with nature through boating and fishing.
“RBFF has come a long way since it was established in 1998,” Peterson said. “And we have managed to keep up with the rapidly changing trends in technology and demographics by continually optimizing our programs and products. We’ve developed innovative online assets to deliver boating and fishing information to the consumer where and how they want it. We’ve worked closely with stakeholders to build tools that support our efforts to grow the sport, and developed critical partnerships with state agencies to increase fishing license sales, boat registration renewals and funds for state conservation projects.”
