Hacker Boat Co. announces location of new facilityPosted on
Luxury boatbuilder Hacker Boat Co. will be the Queensbury Business Park’s next tenant and details about the new facility will be rolled out today.
Hacker was awarded $600,000 in state regional economic development council grant funding late last year and the company said it was moving its production facility from Ticonderoga to Queensbury, according to the Post Star. The location in Queensbury had not been announced until Wednesday.
The Warren County Economic Development Corp., which develops and markets the business park off Queensbury Avenue, announced a press conference scheduled for today to provide further details about the project.
The company has operated a 32,000-square-foot production facility in Ticonderoga and an 11,400-square-foot location in downtown Ticonderoga for restoring and repairing boats. Company officials said earlier this year that they planned to close both of those locations and move production and restoration to Queensbury.
Hacker produces 15 to 20 luxury boats a year. The move to a larger production facility in Queensbury could mean a production increase and more jobs, company officials said earlier this year.
The company recently put out a line of larger boats designed largely for overseas sales, which was part of the need for a larger facility.
Within four years the company expects the majority of its sales to come from international markets, according to the (Albany) Business Review. The brand is owned by wealthy buyers around the world, including clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger and John Walsh, host of “America’s Most Wanted.”
