Marlin magazine has new editor-in-chiefPosted on
Bonnier Corp. named John Brownlee editor-in-chief of Marlin magazine, expanding on his current duties as editor-in-chief of Bonnier sister title Salt Water Sportsman. Brownlee will be responsible for the editorial vision of both brands.
In addition to handling all editorial queries for Marlin, Brownlee will be the content director for Marlin University, events where editors take readers to the world’s hot spots of fishing for one-on-one instructions.
“Brownlee is a proven media professional within the boating and fishing community,” Bonnier chief content officer David Ritchie said in a statement. “As a member of the board of directors of the Billfish Foundation and a regular offshore fishing enthusiast aboard his 37-foot Bertram, Poppy B, in Islamorada, Brownlee is uniquely qualified to help grow and integrate these amazing brands.”
“It’s very exciting to be associated with two exceptional brands like Salt Water Sportsman and Marlin,” Brownlee said in a statement. “I hope to expand upon their proven success by developing compelling digital-content programs that will complement the already outstanding print products.”
Brownlee has served Bonnier as editor-in-chief of Salt Water Sportsman since 2008 and as host of Sport Fishing Television since 2012. Previously he helped launch the startup Center Console Angler and served as a staff contributor to both Sport Fishing and Marlin.
Glenn Law has been promoted to editor of Salt Water Sportsman, handling the operational reins of the 74-year-old brand. Dave Ferrell remains Marlin’s editor, providing multichannel content and serving as the brand ambassador and host for Marlin University.
