NMEA 2000 demonstration scheduled for METS

Posted on

The National Marine Electronics Association’s 2000 ConnectFest, a “live” demonstration of the NMEA 2000 open industry networking standard, is scheduled to take place Nov. 19 at the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam.

The NMEA said many manufacturers will participate in the demonstration from 1 to 4 p.m. in D203 by connecting their products to the NMEA 2000 backbone and demonstrating interoperability on the network.

After a summary by NMEA technical director Steve Spitzer, the demonstration will open for visitors to come by at their convenience. They will have an opportunity to talk with manufacturers that have developed products using the NMEA 2000 protocol.

The NMEA said hands-on experience with the NMEA 2000 cables and connectors system shows the advantages of the lightweight, quickly installed network and shows how systems can be expanded for future needs.

ConnectFest visitors can ask questions related to costs, installation, configurability and scalability. The NMEA 2000 network is an open plug-and-play system, enabling the connection and disconnection of products with no downtime on the network.

METS runs Nov. 19-21.
