Yachting names new editor-in-chiefPosted on
Bonnier Corp.’s Yachting magazine appointed John Wooldridge as its new editor-in-chief.
This marks Wooldridge’s return to Bonnier; he previously served as managing editor of Yachting and MotorBoating. Most recently, he served as editor-in-chief of PassageMaker, which is owned by the Active Interest Media Marine Group. AIM also owns Soundings Trade Only.
“John has shown an innate ability to connect with his audience through print, digital media and events, and his industry reputation for credibility and integrity are second to none,” Bonnier chief content officer David Ritchie said in a statement. “We think John is the right candidate at the right time to solidify Yachting’s execution across channels, better connect with its core audience through engaging content and strengthen its position within the industry.”
“John is a class act and a great writer with expansive knowledge of and passion for yachts and yachting,” Yachting director of brand strategy Glenn Sandridge said. “I am looking forward to working with him to deliver great content for our audience and effective marketing for our clients.”
Wooldridge, who has been affiliated with marine magazines for 36 years, joined PassageMaker in 2008. Prior to that, he served as managing editor for Bonnier’s Yachting and MotorBoating. He also served as managing editor of MotorBoating and Sailing from 1998 to 2006.
On Friday, AIM’s Marine Group announced the promotion of executive editor Peter Swanson to editor-in-chief of PassageMaker.
