Chicago show returns in JanuaryPosted on Written by Richard Armstrong
The 2014 Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show will be held Jan. 16-20 at McCormick Place during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
Organizers said the show not only offers deals on hundreds of boats and RVs, but it also gives visitors a chance to escape the Midwest freeze and enjoy the outdoors at an indoor venue.
Features of the 2014 show include:
• Get Active on the Water: experience the fun and fitness benefits of kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding at the PaddleFest pool. Industry experts will be on hand to answer questions, teach technique and new trends ranging from SUP yoga and racing to inflatable kayaks.
• Dive Into Scuba, Indoors: Explore the world of scuba diving at the heated “Be a Diver Pool.” Anyone 10 and older can learn from diving experts and get a picture taken underwater as a keepsake. Wetsuits, equipment and changing rooms provided.
• Learn the Ropes of Boating: Visit Discover Boating’s Welcome to the Water Center for hands-on learning and seminars for all levels of experience from the Annapolis School of Seamanship. Also see a display of boats that can be financed for about $250 a month or less.
• Become the sharpest tool in the Shed: Do-it-yourself sessions at Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center teach visitors everything they need to know about engine maintenance and repair.
Show hours are: Jan.16, noon to 9 p.m.; Jan. 17, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Jan. 18, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Jan. 19, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Jan. 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
