Fox News previews the New York Boat Show

“Fox & Friends” previewed the Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show, which opens Wednesday at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, touring a number of boats Friday with Discover Boating’s Keith Ammons.

Correspondents Anna Kooiman and Kelly Wright highlighted boating’s affordability with Ammons, who was dubbed “the Discover Boating guy” on screen.

“There is a stigma that you have to be rich in order to own a boat, but that’s really not the case,” Kooiman said.

“That’s right,” Ammons responded. “The case is, three-quarters of families that own a boat in the United States make less than $100,000 a year.”

Kooiman also wanted to know whether any of the boats had been built in the United States. Ammons said 90 percent of boats are built domestically and amount to a $35 billion industry.

Kooiman was happy to hear that the $175,000 Regulator 28 they were standing on was built in North Carolina — the news personality’s home state.

Although they started with a pricier item, the network next showed the Glastron GT 187 and the Yamaha WaveRunner FX Cruiser HO.

Ammons said Glastron’s new jetboat offering is “kind of the perfect family boat for under $250 a month.”

He called the Yamaha the “Cadillac of WaveRunners.”

Ammons told the two that the New York event kicks off a string of shows, including Chicago, Atlanta, and “the big granddaddy,” Miami.
