Hell’s Bay Boatworks names new general manager

Posted on

Veteran fishing magazine publisher, angler and conservationist Gary Jennings joined Hell’s Bay Boatworks, taking the helm as its general manager.

After more than a decade with Bonnier’s Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, Jennings left the publication for an opportunity to join the company that built a model he owned for more than a dozen years.

“The magazine allowed me to travel the world with a fly rod in hand, and I am grateful and proud of my time there,” Jennings said in a statement. “But the chance to work with owners Chris and Wendi Peterson at Hell’s Bay Boatworks was something that I just couldn’t pass up. I can still be involved with fly fishing while in the marine industry; it’s the best of both worlds.”

“Chris and I have known Gary from a professional and personal level for many years,” Wendi Peterson said. “When we decided to bring a GM position to the company, we both only had one person on our list, and that was Gary. The timing was right for him to make a change, and we’re thrilled to have him as a new addition to the Hell’s Bay family.”

Jennings, who still owns the Hell’s Bay he purchased new in 2001, added: “I can’t begin to count the number of fish or all the great times I’ve had while fishing from a Hell’s Bay.”

He became associated with Hell’s Bay Boatworks in 1999 when he brokered an agreement between the then new technical flats boat company and the Coastal Conservation Association in Florida, where he worked as a regional director.

Prior to Bonnier and the Coastal Conservation Association, Jennings worked for The Walt Disney Co. and Hilton.
