Offshore Sailing School honored for leukemia donationsPosted on
Offshore Sailing School founders and owners Steve and Doris Colgate were presented with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s national chairman’s citation at the annual Fantasy Sail Celebration held at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, Fla.
“The National Chairman’s Citation is presented with deepest appreciation for the Colgates’ support of the Leukemia Cup Regatta fundraising events through the years, which includes over $100,000 in donations generated from a portion of paid sailing course tuitions from the Colgates’ Offshore Sailing Schools in Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and the British Virgin Islands,” Leukemia & Lymphoma Society campaign development senior director Marty Siederer said in a statement.
Leukemia Cup Regatta participants from around North America who raised $10,000 or more at an event this year came together for Fantasy Sail weekend with Gary Jobson, a leukemia survivor, world-class sailor, TV commentator, author and chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regatta.
The Offshore Sailing School donated the use of its fleet of Colgate 26 sailboats from its schools at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina on Fort Myers Beach, and South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, for use in the Leukemia Fantasy Sail Regatta, which was held Dec. 7 off the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, Fla.
