Rhode Island show returns this winter

Posted on

The Providence Boat Show will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

The 2014 Providence Boat Show will have a center stage, a new Show Pavilion, where activities and appearances by boating personalities will take place throughout the show. It will also feature a VSTEP bridge simulator, which is used by merchant marine schools, to help visitors develop a feel for navigating a computer-driven boat.

It will also feature surfing lessons, using SurfSet boards with FloorTime Studios instructors.

The show will feature two series of free seminars: a Sportfishing Series, coordinated by Capt. Jack Sprengel of East Coast Charters, and a Seamanship & Navigation Series, coordinated by the Annapolis (Md.) Sailing School in conjunction with Rhode Island outfits Confident Captain; Safe/Sea; and Capt. Frank “Skip” Litterer of Boatwise Marine Training.

This year’s show is operating under new managers, the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association.
