Dutch boatbuilder acquires Madera RibsPosted on
Madera Ribs was bought by the Dutch shipbuilder Veka Group.
Madera, a professional and military RIB manufacturer, went bankrupt as a result of a weak economy and what Veka called “a focus on a wrong market.”
Veka Group said the acquisition is a logical step in expanding the company’s presence in the high-speed-vessel market.
The newly formed company will continue to operate under the original name Madera Ribs and will be led by Arnold den Boon, CEO of the Veka Group, and Bjorn Morsink, founder and former owner of Madera Ribs.
“We immediately saw that Madera Ribs is a product which has a great deal of speed in itself, and that is something that makes the perfect fit with Veka,” den Boon said in a statement. “We believe in high-quality products and see that the security of borders and activities on the water is becoming increasingly important in the market. We are confident that Madera Ribs is well positioned to service this market and will be a gateway to new markets for the Veka Group.”
