Ferretti shipyard signs deal for 233-footer in ChinaPosted on
Ferretti Group shipyard CRN signed a letter of intent for the largest megayacht sold in the Chinese market by CRN and Ferretti Group and it is slated for delivery in 2017.
On Jan. 14, CRN signed the letter for a 68-meter (233-foot) megayacht in Weifang, a city in the central Shandong province of China. The Ancona shipyard, part of the Ferretti Group, specializes in the construction and sale of fully customized displacement megayachts in steel and aluminum that range from 40 to 90 meters.
“The signing of our first LOI for 2014 with a Chinese client is not only something to take pride in, but also a true witness of the strategic path we have embarked on,” CRN chairman and CEO Lamberto Tacoli said in a statement. “The conquest of new markets, and above all that of the Asia-Pacific basin, is indeed a short-term fundamental objective for the brand, which will be pursued as we continue to invest in our assets: design, innovation, craftsmanship and the Made in Italy [brand].”
The 68-meter-long and 12.5-meter-wide steel and aluminum yacht has been created by the Zuccon International Project.
One of the distinctive features of the new vessel is its floodable garage, which allows the tender to enter the water without using a crane. Introduced for the first time by CRN on the 60-meter M/Y J’Ade, exhibited for the first time at the Monaco Boat Show, the garage is now being applied to a vessel of larger dimensions.
The garage transforms a technical space into a new living area with a beach.
The signing was carried out in the presence of Tan Xuguang, chairman of Weichai Group and Ferretti Group; representatives of Weichai Group senior management; Tacoli, the CRN chairman and CEO; and Alessandro Tirelli, Ferretti Group Asia-Pacific sales director.
Xu Xinyu, executive president of Weichai Group and Ferretti Group, hosted the signing ceremony. Weichai Group owns a majority stake in the Ferrett Group.
Six vessels are being built at the Ancona shipyard — four steel and aluminum CRN megayachts, a 124-foot maxiyacht of the Ferretti Custom Line and a Riva, the 122-foot Mythos made of aluminum.
Last year, CRN built the 80-meter M/Y Chopi Chopi, the largest vessel built at the shipyard in its 50-year history and among the 100 biggest megayachts worldwide.
