Rupert Murdoch sells his 183-foot sailboatPosted on
Rupert Murdoch found a buyer for his $29.7 million sailboat less than four months after announcing it was for sale.
The deal was completed shortly before Christmas by Alex Lees-Buckley, a broker in the Monaco office of Camper & Nicholsons, according to the listing.
Murdoch put Rosehearty, a 183-foot ketch, on the market in September, three months after he filed for divorce from his wife of 14 years, Wendi Deng, but the sale reportedly was not connected to the split, according to The Telegraph.
At the time it was listed, one yacht broker told CNBC, “Rupert works all the time. He loves the boat, he loves to sail, but he doesn’t really use it much.”
Rosehearty was marketed as a “majestic” sailing yacht. It was built in 2006 by Italian shipyard Perini Navi. The interior was designed by French designer Christian Liaigre with space for 12 guests to sleep.
“Throughout her living areas, a neutral color palette is used [against] pale oak woods and Hermes leather furnishings to create a truly luxurious feel,” The Telegraph reported the original listing as saying.
“The formal dining area showcases a more intimate atmosphere, with a dark wood table and chairs, soft lighting and warm red seating. She comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in a full-beam master suite, two identical VIP staterooms, two doubles and a single with Pullman berth.”
