MIAMI — Italian sport yacht manufacturer Absolute Yachts, which was founded in 2002 and entered the U.S. market three years ago, is showcasing three boats at its exhibit space at the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach, including the U.S. introduction of its 56 Sport Yacht with twin 600-hp Volvo IPS propulsion drives.

“We believe Absolute offers the perfect blend of Italian design and materials, blended with the practicality demanded by this marketplace,” Absolute North America CEO Cos Constantinou told a gathering of media along Collins Avenue on Friday morning. “We continue to work diligently to introduce Absolute to U.S. consumers.”

Company founder and “inspirational leader” Angelo Gobbi said through an interpreter that his company is fueled by a young, passionate team that is “like a big family.”

The small builder has designed, engineered and built two or three new models annually for the past five years, a pace and feat Constantinou described as “amazing.”

During the event, Absolute introduced a recent customer, Bob Wexler, former CEO and still chairman of luxury watch retail giant Tourneau Watches.

Wexler, a passionate, longtime boater, said he did extensive research before purchasing an Absolute 64 Sport Yacht with twin Volvo IPS drives about 18 months ago.

“There was no second choice,” he said. Wexler said he and his wife spend 170 to 180 days a year on board their yacht, cruising 3,500 miles from Maine to the Florida Keys and the Florida Gulf Coast.

“She cruises efficiently at 28 to 30 knots, tracks incredibly and we love it more now than when we bought it,” he said.
