The Connecticut Marine Trades Association recently elected its officers for the 2014-2015 year at its 60th annual membership meeting.

The officers will serve a one-year term beginning in July and the four directors will serve for three-year terms, joining the current directors.

Officers elected: chairman, Robert Petzold, Petzold’s Marine Center; vice-chair, John Johnson, Thames River Properties; second vice chair, Dawn Schieferdecker, Essex Island Marina; secretary/treasurer, David Crocker, Crocker’s Boatyard; chairman emeritus Don MacKenzie, Boats Inc.

Directors elected: Bill Gardella, Jr., Rex Marine; Glen Billings, Billings Media Blasting; Cindy Karlson, Bohonnon Law Firm; Michael O’Learnick, Kellogg Marine Supply.

Directors current: Joe Boccia, East Coast Trailers; Tasha Cusson, Atlantic Outboard; Anne Duhaime, Guilford Boat Yards; D.G. Fitton, Marine Special Products Group; Jeff Freidag, Town of Greenwich; Ron Helbig, Noank Village Boatyard; Tom Kehlenbach, SeaTow Central CT; John Parunak, Parunak Financial; Rod Swift, Brewer Stratford Marina.

“CMTA is a long standing association of marine businesses concentrating on legislative, regulatory, and recreational issues to improve boating in Connecticut and ensuring member compliance,” CMTA chairman Petzold said in a statement. “With the economy finally turning around, our concerns are still with the actions of the legislature as they deal with tight funding and their history with business. Our hope is they recognize that small businesses are the economic drivers in our state.”

The CMTA office is located at 20 Plains Road in Essex, and is professionally staffed all year. For information, contact CMTA president Grant W. Westerson at (860) 767-2645 or cmta@snet.net.
