Opening day at growing Palm Beach show

Posted on

The Palm Beach International Boat Show, which this year features more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts, boats and accessories, opens at noon today in downtown West Palm Beach, Fla.

Boats at the 29th annual show range from small inflatables and center consoles to fishing boats and superyachts larger than 200 feet.

The show also offers educational activities and special events, such as swimwear fashion shows, International Game Fish Association School of Sportfishing seminars and youth fishing clinics presented by Hook The Future, a non-profit organization.

With panoramic views of Palm Beach Island, the show attracts buyers and sellers worldwide. The four-day event — one of the top five boat shows in the country — will continue through Sunday.

Parking is available within walking distance. Visitors also are invited to come by boat and tie up at free Come-by-Boat docks located south of the in-water displays.

The show will be open until 7 p.m. today. The rest of the schedule is: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is $18 at the gate for adults ($16 online); $8 for children ages 6-15; and free for children under 6.

The show is owned and sponsored by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County Inc. It is managed and produced by Show Management, which is owned by Active Interest Media, the company that owns Soundings Trade Only.

Sponsors include Lincoln, Budweiser, Gosling’s Rum, Yachts International Magazine, the Palm Beach Post, Palm Harbor Marina, BoatQuest.com, Smallwoods Yachtwear, the IGFA School of Sportfishing, Hook the Future and Geico.
