Sea Ray rolls out improvements to Florida plantPosted on
Following the recent introduction of a new yacht series — the L-Class — Sea Ray announced several infrastructure improvements at its Palm Coast manufacturing facility during a waterfront ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday.
The centerpiece of the celebration was a new extended water test ramp.
“This is an exciting time for Sea Ray. Just this month, we introduced our groundbreaking new L-Class series of yachts and the flagship L650 Fly at the Miami Boat Show to great acclaim,” Sea Ray president Tim Schiek said in a statement. “We have already seen tremendous demand for the L650 Fly, which is produced here at the Palm Coast facility. The new ramp will allow us to continue meeting demand and will ensure that our customers’ high expectations continue to be exceeded.”
All L650 Fly models must water-delivered and the new ramp allows for the movement of as much as 150,000 pounds. That means technicians at the Palm Coast facility can move boats 50 feet and larger directly from the production line to the water.
“The facility spent months going through the appropriate governmental and environmental protocols necessary to establish this ramp. It’s important that we recognize with gratitude our Florida public agencies’ support for this initiative,” Schiek said. “The addition is a crucial one and the impact will be great. Because of the yachts that can now be manufactured and quality tested here, we anticipate more than 100 jobs will be added to the facility.”
Florida state officials, including Hershel Vinyard, secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection, and District 6 constituent services manager Sue Bower attended the event. Greg Strong and Jim Maher of the Department of Environmental Protection and several Flagler County commissioners also attended.
