Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit honored at Chinese showPosted on
Volvo Penta’s Glass Cockpit concept earned the company a third Asian Marine and Boating Award for most innovative company.
The company picked up the award at the 2014 China (Shanghai) Boat Show in April. Asia’s largest show, now in its 19th year, honored Volvo Penta with the award, highlighting the Glass Cockpit’s technology and design and the company’s history of innovation.
“Innovation is something for which Volvo Penta has always been known, so it’s an honor to have such a major and well-respected boat show recognize our Glass Cockpit concept, which takes safe and easy boating to a new level,” Volvo Penta marine segment head Stefan Carlsson said in a statement.
The product of a partnership with Garmin, the Glass Cockpit control and monitoring system displays navigation, engine data, warnings, alarms and other information on flat-screen displays at the helm station. Engine control and monitoring occur on a dashboard that features an ergonomic user interface.
The technology also was awarded an IBEX Innovation Award in Fort Lauderdale in September and a DAME Design Award for the top electronic and software-related concept at the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam in November.
