Atlantic-Meeco finishes Texas marina project

Atlantic-Meeco completed an expansion of the Point Venture marina on Lake Travis in Texas.

Atlantic-Meeco general manager Ken Brown announced the completion of what he called a challenging project this week.

The company said its design team had to fit the new docks onto a small piece of land outside the main cove that would not be affected by low water levels, would still be accessible to the existing marina facilities and would meet the Lower Colorado River Authority’s requirements.

“We had three companies bid on this project, and Atlantic-Meeco was the only company that said this could be done and that they would develop a workable solution to all the challenges we faced,” Point Venture general manager Tania Spikes said in a statement.

“They helped us design a perfect solution for adding 76 new covered slips, six sailboat slips and a 536-foot wave attenuator, and their customer service, communications and attention to detail throughout the project made this expansion run smoothly from start to finish.”

Atlantic-Meeco said it also helped revise the original permit to expand the slip sizes from 20 feet to 24 feet, and the design gives Point Venture the ability to add more slips.

The elongated H design of the dock includes the Meeco Galvanized Steel System, polyethylene floats and concrete deck panels, and Atlantic-Meeco said it handled every aspect, including design, engineering, permitting and installation, as well as electrical and land accessibility design.

“This Point Venture project is another great example of our team’s can-do attitude and our commitment to exceptional customer service, and the project manager, Steve Shoup, did a great job leading and managing our team to bring this project in ahead of schedule and under budget,” Brown said.
