Chicago in-water show returns in JunePosted on
The third annual Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show will dock June 5-8 at the 31st Street Harbor, transforming Chicago’s newest marina into what organizers said will be a one-stop marketplace for boating enthusiasts.
Visitors will be able to shop and compare more than 125 new boats, ranging from luxury yachts to ski boats and pontoon boats. Organizers said show highlights will include powerboat, sailing and scuba-diving lessons, flyboard demonstrations and a showcase that will feature more than a dozen antique and classic boats displayed in the water from the Blackhawk Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society.
Those who aren’t in the market for a boat will be able to participate in free activities that include paddlesports, Hobie kayak spin classes, banana boat rides, DIY boat repair and maintenance seminars and boating lessons (for a nominal fee).
Visitors also will be able to shop booths selling nautical gear and accessories and enjoy live music on the party deck by DeHurricane, recent winner of the Chicago Music Award for best reggae entertainer.
Admission will be $10 for adults (age 16 and older); $8 for seniors (ages 65 and older) on June 5 only; and free for children ages 15 and younger.
