JRL Ventures/Marine Concepts marks 20 years

Posted on

JRL Ventures /Marine Concepts, a design, engineering, plug and composite tooling manufacturer in Sarasota and Cape Coral, Fla., is marking its 20th anniversary in business.

Specialists offer assistance with new design and product changes, plug and mold construction, repair and refurbishing of current tooling, engineering documentation, reverse engineering, metrology, mold and part laser scan validation, patterns and cold mold kits, and first article and short run production.

The company said its clients include marine, aerospace, waterslides, and transportation industries, as well as the U.S. military.

Twenty years ago today, Bob and Karen Long closed the deal to purchase the Cape Coral-based fiberglass tooling company Marine Concepts from industry veteran Kiko Villalon. The company primarily offered services to the boatbuilding industry, but it said a push to diversify under parent company JRL Ventures during the first decade of this century succeeded and the company’s services now include engineering and tooling assistance to the military, fast food restaurant chains, theme parks, recreational vehicles and the aerospace industry.

The company said substantial growth prompted the purchase of an additional facility in Sarasota, where many former boatbuilders were put back to work. The company said it has more than 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space and more than 200 engineers and tech support and customer service specialists.

“We would like to thank all of the companies that have supported us through our 20 years of historic changes and growth, and look forward to the next 20 years,” JRL/Marine Concepts president Matt Chambers said in a statement.
