KEY LARGO, Fla. — Suzuki vice president of operations Mark Eastman said that when Suzuki announced a new emphasis on its marine business, retailers, consumers and dealers told the company that their needs weren’t being met.

Part of Suzuki’s strategy to meet these needs is a new parts and accessories line, including a new multi-item engine kit for each engine family. The kits were announced at the new-model introduction and business meeting Suzuki held this week at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo.

“Dealers told us it was hard for them to keep every item on the Suzuki parts list in stock all the time,” Eastman said. “This new kit meets that need.”

The kits have about 15 items and there are different kits for each Suzuki engine family. Suzuki now has 12 kits. Items in the kits include anodes, impellers, propeller spark plugs, fuel filters and oil filters. The cost of the kits is 5 to 10 percent less than the total cost of the items when they are purchased separately. The kits will be available in the fall.

Eastman said the kits and other Suzuki new parts and accessories are part of the bigger picture of Suzuki’s new emphasis on the marine market.

“The engines are the key to Suzuki’s success, but all the other pieces go along with it,” he said.

Suzuki is creating more of a presence in dealerships with floor space, standalone Suzuki boards and slat wall displays. Dealers are willing to give Suzuki floor space and wall space. That shows consumers the dealer’s commitment and creates confidence in the brand, Eastman said.

“The feedback from the dealers is positive,” he said. ‘They’re ready. One of our dealers wanted 600 kits today.”

Items in the parts and accessories kits, which are particular to each Suzuki engine family, include:

• Impeller

• Water pump key

• Water pump impeller panel

• Pump case under gasket

• Pump case panel sleeve

• Water pump case sealing

• Water pump case cotter pin

• Propeller spark plug

• Anode

• O ring

• Oil filter

• Fuel filter

• Gasket

• Engine oil drain plug gasket

• Gear oil drain plug gasket

• Protection cover gasket

• Thermostat cover
