ABYC teams with NMMA South Carolina on coursesPosted on
The American Boat & Yacht Council and the National Marine Manufacturers Association South Carolina are joining to present ABYC certification courses in Charleston, S.C.
The first course to be held there will be ABYC Marine Electrical Certification and it will run from Sept. 9-12.The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources will host the class at its Marine Resources & Research Institute classroom.
“This is a great opportunity for our South Carolina members to send their staff to ABYC certification courses,” NMMA South Carolina executive directorSuzi DuRant said in a statement. “In the past, companies have incurred added expense by having to send their employees out of state. We hope to offer the Marine Diesel Certification course in November, and more are in the planning stages. Also, NMMA SC members will receive a special discount on the registration fee.”
The course is intended for people who have a minimum of three to five years of practical experience in marine electrical design, service or installation. ABYC will send applicants the study material in advance.
“We are excited about holding our courses in Charleston,” ABYC education and customer service manager Sandy Brown said. “We already have interest in sending students from the S.C. DNR and the Charleston Fire Department’s Marine Division.”
