Mercury Racing, a division of Mercury Marine, said it launched a dealer repower program that gives consumers incentives to upgrade classic vee-bottom and catamaran performance boats with Mercury Racing 520, 540 or 565 sterndrives.

The company said repowering with 520, 540 or 565 power delivers a significantly improved driving experience through higher torque, better cruise-speed fuel consumption and ultra-responsive digital control systems.

Mercury said the Race to Repower program includes a cash rebate, a free Racing DTS Zero Effort control and a DTS rigging kit, for a total value of as much as $8,200.

The company said the program gives owners of Mercury Racing 500 EFI, 525 EFI, and 575 SCi sterndrives, as well as comparably sized competitive performance engines, the opportunity to upgrade to modern propulsion.

Mercury backs the packages with a comprehensive two-year limited warranty; 520 owners have the option to purchase as much as three additional years of Mercury Product Protection.
