NMMA touts 2016 legislative accomplishments

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is touting its 2016 accomplishments in Congress, starting with the signing into law of the Coast Guard authorization bill, which includes a model-year fix and updates engine weight regulations.

Other accomplishments include congressional reauthorization of the Water Resources Development Act, also known as the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act. The NMMA said the law will provide $12 billion in critical waterways infrastructure projects, such as dredging and navigation programs, and it includes $1.95 billion of funds for Everglades restoration.

The group also united with outdoor industry groups by forming the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable and raised more than $115,000 through BoatPAC.

“It is more important than ever that we as an industry are united, support advocacy efforts and are present at the table to educate the 115th Congress and the new administration with President-elect Trump at the helm,” the group said.
