Patriots coach donates 24-foot Grady-White to Sail NewportPosted on
Could New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick be in the market for a new boat?
Belichick donated the 24-foot Grady White that he bought in 2000 to Newport’s non-profit public Sailing Center for use as a support vessel for events such as the Volvo Ocean Race, which makes its North American stop May 7-20.
The boat, VI Rings, has been renamed several times to reflect the number of Super Bowls won by Belichick as both a head coach and assistant coach.
It also will be used for youth and adult sailing programs, regattas and sailing events on Narragansett Bay.
“We are thrilled and grateful to Coach Belichick for donating his boat for use in our public sailing programs. The boat will be used as a support and safety vessel for all of our instructional programs and regattas, including the May 7-20, 2018, North American stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race,” Sail Newport executive director Brad Read said in a statement.
The donation was facilitated by Albury Brothers Boats. The boat will be delivered to Sail Newport in mid-February.
