The Catamaran Group acquires Chesapeake Bay marina

Posted on

The Catamaran Group said it acquired Breezy Point Marina in Chesapeake Beach, Md., its third property in that state.

On Maryland’s shore midway between Annapolis and Solomons Island in Chesapeake Beach, Breezy Point Marina is on Chesapeake Bay, adjacent to the Tilghman Island Sanctuary. It features slips for 225 vessels.

“We were not actively looking for another marina property, but the similarities between our vision for the existing Pier 7 Resort Marina and the potential within Breezy Point Marina really made this opportunity a perfect fit that could not be missed,” A&S Smith Development Corp. president Laura Hershfeld said in a statement.

“With this addition to our existing marinas in Edgewater and Annapolis, we expand our footprint down the Maryland shoreline, allowing our slip holders and resort customers at all locations a terrific reciprocal overnight destination by land or sea,” she said. “The two resort properties will mirror each other with exciting local activities, top-rated amenities and friendly staff.”

“Laura and her team’s proven track record with our existing marina properties, standing in the community and deep family roots makes them the perfect choice to revitalize, upgrade amenities and continue to foster and grow camaraderie among the powerboat and fishing culture,” Catamaran Group president Hugh Murray said.

“We are very excited about this project and feel that with our family of companies, including locally run Gemini Catamarans, this is the perfect property to round out our corporate holdings.”
