VIDEO: MIASF series features Fort Lauderdale shopPosted on
The Marine Industries Association of South Florida released the latest episode of “Salty Jobs,” a video series that showcases marine industry career opportunities in South Florida.
“Salty Jobs,” featuring MIASF director of development Sean Smith as the host, takes a unique approach to introducing a range of jobs associated with the marine industry to local schools, workforce agencies and the public.
In the third episode, Smith showcases propeller repairs and reconditioning, using technology performed by the propeller technicians at Frank & Jimmie’s Propeller Shop, a second-generation, family-owned company that was founded in 1947.
“We think this is an ideal way to present the different types of jobs that are available in the industry, engaging a younger audience about the potential to secure lifelong careers that allow for home ownership, the ability to raise a family and the opportunity to save for retirement,” Smith said in a statement.
“The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is proud of the fact that the 136,000 marine-related jobs in our region typically pay 28 percent more than the state average,” MIASF executive director Phil Purcell said.
The video series airs online from the MIASF’s website and on YouTube and it also will be broadly distributed in the region.
