AVYachts touts fractional ownership at Yachts Miami Beach

Posted on

AVYachts, a company that touts itself as an alternative yachting ownership and vacation services company, was soft-launched at Yachts Miami Beach.

The company said it offers its members shared ownership at one-fifth the cost of full ownership and VIP concierge services to arrange private jet transportation, yacht experiences and excursions at special discounted rates.

With the AVYachts app, the convenience of yacht charter and private jet travel are combined into one package. For a monthly fee, owners access yacht management, maintenance and concierge planning services and benefit from yacht ownership privileges for 20 percent of the cost, the company said.

AVYachts said its Paradise Getaway Card provides members with customized yacht experiences and transportation services by the day (three-day minimum) or the week aboard a fully crewed private yacht anywhere in the world, for a fee.

The company said it is headed by CEO Herb Postma and industry veterans that include maritime and aviation lawyer Michael Moore and COO Kathy Kennedy.

Postma brings more than 30 years of yacht ownership and management experience to AVYachts. He was owner and CEO of the world’s largest Hatteras Yachts dealership in Fort Lauderdale and the founder of Westship, builder of the first U.S.-built composite yachts larger than 100 feet, in Westport, Wash.

Postma said he has created a set fee structure for AVYachts clients that eliminates the mystery of budgeting for maintenance and management costs.

“AVYachts offers the ultimate yacht experience to busy clients in a seamless, stress-free and convenient package,” Postma said in a statement. “From door-to-yacht private jet transportation to experiences on the finest yachts worldwide, AVYachts represents the next generation of complete luxury lifestyle enjoyment in a cost-effective package.”

AVYachts is offering 20 percent shares in a refitted 2012 112-foot Westport yacht for a purchase price of $1.78 million and a total annual cost of $260,000.

For that price, the company said, fractional owners can access the fully crewed yacht for six weeks a year; they will have the yacht personalized with their personal effects every time they board and they will have the option to exchange one or more of their weeks with another owner or member on a similar yacht anywhere in the world.

AVYachts said financing options are available.
