Coast Guard Foundation set to honor ConocoPhillipsPosted on
The Coast Guard Foundation said it will present its 2017 Guardian Award to ConocoPhillips, a Houston-based oil and natural gas producing company, at the foundation’s Tribute to the Coast Guard on May 24 in Houston.
Accepting the award will be ConocoPhillips chairman and CEO Ryan Lance.
The Guardian Award recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that have provided significant support or have demonstrated exemplary commitment to the foundation, Coast Guard personnel and families or to other service members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Given just once a year, the Guardian Award is the foundation’s premier national recognition.
“It is an honor to receive the 2017 Guardian Award from the distinguished leadership of the Coast Guard Foundation and to join with so many others to pay tribute to the men and women of the United States Coast Guard,” Lance said in a statement. “I consider it a privilege to accept this recognition on behalf of the employees of ConocoPhillips and I know that they believe in this cause just as much as I do.”
For more than 20 years, ConocoPhillips has been a leading advocate of the foundation’s most important strategic initiatives. ConocoPhillips’ support has been critical for the foundation’s education, morale and relief programs.
The company has supported the foundation’s scholarship fund, which provides college scholarships to Coast Guard children, and has provided significant contributions to the Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund, which gave three full scholarships in 2016 to children who lost a parent in the line of duty.
