Singapore show will include Asia Boating Forum

The Singapore Yacht Show, in conjunction with ICOMIA, said the Asia Boating Forum will be held April 7-8 at the One 15 Marina at Sentosa Cove in Singapore.

The yacht show will be held April 6-9, also at One 15 Marina. The Asia Boating Forum will include a strategic analysis of the Asian boating market, including country-specific data, statistics and industry updates.

Organizers said the forum also will stimulate discussion on policy development and environmental practices in the Asian marine industry. The International Council of Marine Industry Associations will provide an update on its Asia Project, an initiative that addresses key obstacles to promoting growth in Asia, along with outlining recommendations for the development of leisure boating traffic in the region.

Organizers said the program was developed to explore emerging Asian industries, with the aim of developing strategies to create an environment in which appropriate infrastructure, regulations that promote boating and significant economic development can take place.

“Asia has a number of countries offering vast coastlines; however, there is little or no marine industry infrastructure in many of these regions — and in some cases, hostile administrative environments,” ICOMIA secretary general Udo Kleinitz said in a statement.

“With tourism putting boating activities on government economic plans in many of these countries we are sure there is potential for them to become future growth markets for our industry.”
