Tankoa Yachts said recent sea trials of the S501 M/Y Vertige yielded excellent results.

Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts said the first sea trials of the S501 M/Y Vertige were held after the 164-foot yacht was launched in February.

The sea trials took place with more than a meter of waves and choppy seas with northerly wind gusts as strong as 30 knots, the company said.

“The first sea trials, which lasted about eight hours, were simply incredible,” Tankoa Yachts general manager Edoardo Ratto said in a statement. “Vertige reached a top speed of 16.5 knots at 60 percent load — about 33,000 liters of fuel and more than 20,000 liters of water.”

The S501 has a range of more than 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, which makes a difference when going for Atlantic crossings, Ratto said.

“There [was] no vibration at all, and the decibel readings were inferior to contracted levels — in the owner’s suite and VIP cabin, levels were below 50 decibels.”

The yacht is built entirely in aluminum light alloy 5083. Tankoa’s management team worked in close collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski to design the yacht.
