Aspen C120 owners journey on 10,000-mile cruisePosted on
The new owners of the new Aspen C120 Knot Wafflen’ teamed with Capt. Blake Eder and Larry Graf, founder of Aspen Power Catamarans, to take the boat on a 10,000-mile shakedown cruise.
The builder said David and Sue Ellen Jenkins will cruise the 40-foot Proa catamaran from Washington state to Annapolis, Md.
Having already cruised to the San Juan islands and Seattle, the couple will soon depart from Anacortes, Wash., and head north into Canada and on to Alaska.
After some summer fun in Alaska, the boat will turn south again and run from Juneau down the Pacific Coast, with stops in Washington, Oregon, and California before continuing to Cabo San Lucas and into the Sea of Cortez.
From there the boat will be portaged across Mexico and Texas, where she will be resplashed in Galveston, Texas. The voyage continues through the Gulf of Mexico to the west coast of Florida, then Key West, the Bahamas and up the Eastern seaboard, finishing the trip in Annapolis.
Aspen said the trip will be the longest water delivery ever for a 40-foot power cat. An important goal of the trip is to demonstrate the strength and all-weather capability of Aspen’s boats.
