Canadian industry leaders meet with lawmakers in OttawaPosted on
NMMA Canada said leaders from the Canadian boating industry met with members of Parliament on May 9 in Ottawa for a fifth year.
Organizers said the 2017 Day on the Hill included 18 boat manufacturers, course providers, marine trades associations and media partners. They met with nearly 30 members of Parliament and their staff.
Separately, NMMA Canada executive director Sara Anghel was recently elected to the Outdoor Caucus Association of Canada for a two-year term. The association is a liaison between the federal government and industry, advising the Parliamentary Outdoor Caucus on issues of importance to the hunting, fishing, trapping and sport-shooting communities.
The association was formed in 2006 and includes members of Parliament and senators from all political parties, representing Canadians who enjoy outdoor activities.
NMMA Canada also released the first two sections of the 2016 Statistical Abstract, which it said contains thousands of data points and insights about the recreational boating industry.
New this year, NMMA Canada is releasing each section of the abstract as the data become available, starting with “2016 Economic Facts” and “2016 Retail Markets.”
All four sections of the 2016 abstract will be available in June.
