Gander Mountain will close some stores

Minnesota-based Gander Mountain, which owns Overton Marine’s online business, appears to be closing about 90 of its 162 stores.

Although the company announced on its website that it would shut all stores, new owner Marcus Lemonis, a celebrity businessman with a show on CNBC, said Monday that some will remain open.

Signs appeared in stores Monday that read “store closing,” according to USA Today.

“Those signs are on all 162 stores. The liquidator put up the signs,” Jess Myers, a spokesman for St. Paul-based Gander Mountain, told the newspaper. “The owner announced that 61 will stay open despite what the signs say. He wants to keep about 70 of them.”

Lemonis tweeted updates of stores that will remain open and said the tweets will continue today.
