Larry Goldman, a well-known and respected member of the South Florida performance-boating community, died Saturday at the age of 57 after a stroke.

Most recently, Goldman and his boat sales and brokerage business, Xtreme Powerboats, had moved into the new Haulover Marine Center in Miami. For the past few years he has been selling new and used catamarans and center-console models for Marine Technologies, which is based in Missouri.

Well-known for his throttling and boat setup capabilities, Goldman had amassed a loyal following of friends and clients in the Southeast. He is remembered for his passion and enthusiasm for the water.

Goldman is survived by his wife, Jodi, and two children.

A celebration of life memorial has been set for Sunday at 6 p.m. at Haulover Marine Center.
