Lowrance reports stronger sales with big-display productsPosted on
After a record-setting year in 2016 with the Elite-7 Ti fishfinder/chart plotter, Lowrance is reporting that its new Elite-9 Ti is having strong sales to start 2017.
They are attributable, in part, to indicators that fishing enthusiasts are continuing to make room for bigger, brighter displays, the company said.
The Elite Ti is designed to meet the demands of anglers looking for one display to provide all of the information for fishing and navigation. Users are requiring the largest screen available to allow them to easily and effectively view all of the important data at once, Lowrance said.
Not long ago, 5-inch displays were the strongest sellers, but recent trends show that 7- and 9-inch displays are the current favorites, and this trend will likely grow to 12-inch displays in the next two years, the company said.
Lowrance Elite-12 Ti models started shipping to consumers in March.
“We are very excited about the reception of the Elite-Ti Series, both by recreational and professional anglers alike,” Navico CEO Leif Ottosson said in a statement.
“This product line hits the sweet spot of hard-hitting features and tremendous value. Our competitors are obviously taking notice, but they just can’t match our advanced technology and value. When you look at a side-by-side comparison, there really is no other option but Lowrance.”
Fishing features of the Elite Ti displays include a touchscreen interface, Bluetooth and wireless connectivity and high-performance sonar, including CHIRP, Broadband Sounder and StructureScan HD with SideScan and DownScan Imaging.
For improved navigation, the Elite Ti series have a built-in GPS antenna that displays position on a C-MAP Insight map with lakes and rivers and detailed coastal contours to 1,000 feet. Optional upgrades include Lake Insight HD by C-MAP, C-MAP MAX-N, Navionics HotMaps Premium, Navionics+ and Fishing Hotspots PRO.
Lowrance said Bluetooth and wireless connectivity also provide control of single or dual Power-Pole shallow water anchor installations, as well as access to the GoFree Link App, which allows anglers to view and control the display from an iPad or Android tablet.
