West Marine BlueFuture fundraiser ends MondayPosted on
Only a few days remain for people who want to support West Marine’s BlueFuture Fund through a sales event that coincides with National Safe Boating Week.
Through Monday, the manufacturers of West Marine personal flotation devices will donate $2 for every West Marine life jacket purchased in stores and online at westmarine.com (up to $35,000) to the nonprofit fund.
The BlueFuture initiative supports a broad range of non-profit, community-based organizations dedicated to providing young people with access to the water and with the education and equipment they need to spend time on and around the water safely.
West Marine director of communications Lindsey Johnson said funds raised during National Safe Boating Week will directly support the fall grant cycle.
“We’re encouraging our friends and supporters across the country to visit their nearest West Marine stores or jump online this week and over the holiday weekend,” Johnson said in a statement. “Not only do we want to make sure everyone has appropriate safety gear as the summer boating season gets started, we’re hoping to reach that $35,000 goal.”
“If we do, then together we have fully funded 23 of our 25 fall grants. That’s a big deal to the hard-working, community-based groups we support through BlueFuture and to the hundreds of young people who have access to the water through their recreational and educational programs.”
