He also was senior editor at Professional BoatBuilder Magazine in 2011.
“We’re excited to have Eric on board,” said Bill Sisson, editor-in-chief of Trade Only. “He knows the industry well and has a strong understanding of the powerboats, propulsion and product trends. Eric rounds out a strong team that includes senior reporter Reagan Haynes and managing editor Jack Atzinger.”
Also at Soundings Trade Only, Reagan Haynes was promoted from associate editor to senior reporter and Jack Atzinger has moved from associate editor to managing editor.
Separately, Gary Reich was hired as senior editor at Soundings and Colleen Mason was promoted to multimedia editor.
Reich, a Chesapeake Bay-based writer, editor and photographer, has worked in the marine industry for more than 25 years. He has been focused on marine publishing for the last 15 years.
“We’ve been working with Gary as a freelancer for several years now, so when we had a chance to bring him onboard full time, we were thrilled, ” Soundings editor-in-chief Mary South said. “Gary is not just a good marine journalist. He’s passionate about boating, and we know he’s going to be a terrific addition to our team.”
“As always, content is king,” said Gary DeSanctis, group publisher and general manager of the AIM Marine Group. “With the ever-growing demand on quality content in print, digital and video, it’s essential that the AIM Marine Group hire and retain the best editors and producers in the business. I’m happy Eric and Gary have joined the ranks of the largest, most successful media company in the marine industry. This helps ensure that we are well positioned to take advantage of the changing landscape in today’s fast-moving media world.”
At Soundings, Reich will write news and feature stories, and fishing and Bay Watch columns and he will write fishing stories for Anglers Journal.
He previously served as managing editor at Waterway Guide, editor at PropTalk magazine and editor-at-large for Chesapeake Bay Magazine. He has been an NMMA Innovation Awards and BWI writing contest judge, and he is a former Coastal Conservation Association chapter president.
Today, Reich sits on the board of Boating Writers International. A sailboat liveaboard and active cruiser for many years, Reich today is not only an avid powerboater, but also a passionate angler.
