Bob Hall, assistant general manager at Gemeco Marine Accessories, is retiring after more than 39 years in the industry.

“He has a real connection with all those he works with and garners respect within all levels of the organization and the industry,” Gemeco general manager Peter Braffitt said in a statement. “While I hate to see him go, I’m also very happy for him. I wish him health and happiness in retirement.”

Hall’s retirement was effective July 1. He founded Gem Electronics in 1978 to provide service parts and advanced technical knowledge to the marine industry. In 2005, the company was purchased by Airmar Technology Corp. and renamed Gemeco Marine Accessories.

Today Gemeco is a wholesale distributor to thousands of marine electronics dealers throughout the United States and abroad. The company provides access to transducers, service parts and electronics components for marine professionals.

Hall will spend his retirement on the water and sharpening his photography skills near his home in Charleston, S.C., where he lives with his wife, Suzy.

“We look forward to seeing Bob at boat shows and to continuing the legacy he created in our beloved industry,” Braffitt said.
