MarineMax named Josie Tucci vice president of marketing and promoted Bentley Hodge to base manager at the company’s charter base in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
Tucci joined MarineMax in August and quickly built a marketing team to support the company’s national retail network of more than 50 stores and diverse business units.
“Brand management, direct marketing and business development are Tucci’s areas of expertise,” marketing, charter and special initiatives president Lex Raas said in a statement.
Tucci started her marketing career in the marine industry more than 15 years ago, working for a well-known boatbuilder in France. Moving to the United States in 2001, she established a global yacht sales marketing network and went on to expand and develop distribution channels across North and South American for leading yacht charter brands.
All elements of MarineMax marketing will fall under Tucci’s leadership, including the eCommerce team.
Hodge, a Tortola native, started his career in the marine industry 17 years ago and has worked closely with suppliers and manufacturers such as Beneteau, Jeanneau, Robertson and Caine, and Raymarine. Before joining MarineMax Vacations, Hodge was customer service manager at Horizon Yacht Charters, where he implemented new base procedures companywide.
“Bentley will be instrumental in continuing to position MarineMax Vacations as the premier powerboat charter operator in the British Virgin Islands,” Raas said.
Volvo Penta said Tony Kelleher was named director of marine leisure sales in the Americas region and Rick Richert was named regional sales manager.
Kelleher, who has been with Volvo Penta since 2006, will be responsible for managing the strategic direction and sales of Volvo Penta and diesel engines in the leisure marine segment for North America and the Caribbean, with an emphasis on day-to-day operations, including programs, plans, budgets and oversight of the sales team.
Richert, who has spent 22 years with Volvo Penta, will be responsible for growing the company’s market share in boats exported from the United States. He will work with North American OEMs to identify international dealer prospects, mapping global gas dealer distribution and helping Volvo Penta colleagues around the world align the global boat-selling experience.
Wavecraft USA, maker of the Waveblade hull-cleaning power tool, named Kerry Hoffman its general manager for the Americas. The announcement comes in advance of upcoming plans to expand the company’s product range for new markets and applications.
The Global Marina Institute welcomed new board member Stefan Borzecki when it met recently in Sydney, Australia. Borzecki is a Marina Industries Association director, a certified marina manager and the founder and builder of Yaringa Marina and Boat Harbour in Westernport Bay, Victoria.
He replaces Steve Sammes, of Gold Coast City Marina, who had served on the institute’s board since its inception in 2011.
Ward’s Marine Electric announced two position changes. Jason Pavone will assume the duties of sales manager at the Riviera Beach, Fla., facility. John Champagne will be the commercial sales and business development specialist at the Fort Lauderdale location.
Xtreme Tower Products hired industry veteran Mike McCrary as its engineering manager.
McCrary has more than two decades of marine industry experience, including as senior buyer/new product development project leader at Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and purchasing positions at Crownline and Celebrity boats.
Based in Maryville, Tenn., XTP designs and makes custom watersports towers and accessories.
Ocean Link recently added Michael Amelang to its technician staff, increasing the company’s marine services beyond sanitation and plumbing and into refrigeration and air conditioning. He has more than 20 years of experience with marine systems.
The hiring of Amelang expands the company’s service territory from its Portsmouth, R.I., location north to Boston.
