The Association of Marina Industries announced committee members for its National Marina Day, a nationwide celebration of America’s marinas. The annual National Marina Day is Aug. 9.

The committee members are: Michael Shanley (chair); Allison Harpold, Walden Marina, Montgomery, Texas; Bruce Marshall, CMM, Port of Olympia, Olympia, Wash.; Dave Suthard, CMM, North Point Marina, Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; Janette Healy, Four Winds Marina, Bokeelia, Fla.; Jerry Koncel, Marina Dock Age magazine, Niles, Ill.; Jim Schofield, BoatU.S. Cooperating Marina Program, Alexandria, Va.; Kathryn Nova, The Ocean Conservancy, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Kim Loyd, Watermark Marina of Wilmington, Wilmington, N.C.; Kirby Scheimann, CMM, Marinas International, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Nathalie Grady, Massachusetts Marine Trades Association, Milton, Mass.; and Vivian Matuk, California Department of Boating and Waterways/California Coastal Commission, San Francisco.

Lazy Days Marina on Lake Lanier in Georgia was chosen as the site for the kickoff of this year’s National Marina Day.

Lazy Days is one of many marinas located on Lake Lanier, which last year was plagued by severe drought conditions, causing a loss in boating activity. Hosting National Marina Day on Lake Lanier will promote the fact that marinas on the lake are open, according to AMI.
