62_pipeline_02The fluke anchor is known for its sharp edges and pointed ends that can be hazards and cause damage.

Alongshore Products, of Westport, Mass., has come out with a neoprene cover called the AnchorSuit, which is designed to prevent the anchor from scuffing, scraping and gouging the boat’s gelcoat, according to the company. “The reception from the boating community has been extremely positive,” says product inventor Kevin Murray. The AnchorSuit is manufactured in Providence, R.I., and is currently available only through the company Web site. They are available three sizes – small, medium and large – and prices are $69.95, $79.95 and $89.95, respectively. The AnchorSuit fits No. 11 to No. 13 fluke anchors (Fortress Anchor max size FX-11).
