The Marine Industries Association of South Florida recently announced its officers and directors for 2008-09.
President J.J. McConnell, Gilman Yachts of Fort Lauderdale; vice president John Stephens, Lewis Marine Supply, secretary/treasurer Mark Hanke, Merritt’s Boat & Engine Works and past president Kristina Hebert, Ward’s Marine Electric.
Directors are: Tom Ackel, Bluewater Chairs; Mark Bailey; Merrill-Stevens; Trey Irvine, Pipewelders Marine; Patrick Knowles, Patrick Knowles Designs; Kitty McGowan, NautiCom Communications; Scott Miser, Rybovich; Cathy Petowsky, River Bend Marine Center; Jim Renfrow, Fairline Florida and Jay Reynolds, J.P. Reynolds Co.
Retiring from the board are Jim Bronstien, Wes Dickman, Jeff Dana, John Mann, and Craig Muir.
The new board will be officially announced Saturday at the Annual Awards Gala at the Harbor Beach Marriott in Fort Lauderdale.
Also at the gala, MIASF will honor industry veteran Wes Dickman with the 2008 Golden Anchor Award. This prestigious award recognizes an individual for a lifetime of achievement and extraordinary accomplishment benefiting the marine industry.
In addition, Capt. Karl Schultz, commander of Coast Guard Sector Miami, along with Coral Springs vice mayor Roy Gold, and Dr. Fran Bohnsack, the executive director of the Miami River Marine Group, will be honored with Awards of Excellence for their contributions to the marine industry during the past year.
The Roscioli Yachting Center also will be presented with the Project of the Year Award.
