Hexion will raise resin prices

The U.S. composite resins business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals will increase the price of all unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins by 8 cents per pound, effective for products shipped on or after Aug. 15.

Hexion is the second company this week to announce higher resin prices. Cook Composites & Polymers will also raise prices next month. The increase reflects the continued escalation of energy and chemical intermediate costs, according to Columbus, Ohio-based Hexion.

Hexion’s composite polymers business produces a range of unsaturated polyester resins and vinylester resins for use in reinforced composites and cast polymer products in a variety of markets, including transportation, construction, infrastructure, marine and consumer goods.
