Changing places

All Island Marine Power Center, a Volvo Penta gasoline and diesel engine power center in Oceanside, N.Y., named David M. Aust as business development territory manager.

Aust brings 25 years of marine industry experience to the table. His most recent position was outside sales representative for Morgan Recreational Supply, a wholesale distributor of marine parts and accessories in Farmington, N.Y. He also has experience in marina management, and for the last seven years has served as treasurer for the Empire State Marine Trades Association.

In his new position, Aust will be responsible for developing engine package sales and increasing market share of Volvo Penta original equipment parts and accessories to OEMs and dealers in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.

Sylvia Beckerman joined Maritime General Agency in Westbrook, Conn., as chief operating officer.

Beckerman comes to MGA with more than 20 years' insurance industry management experience and will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of MGA, reporting to managing partner Chris Pesce. Her responsibilities include daily oversight operational segments of MGA’s business units.

Prior to joining MGA, Beckerman served as senior operations manager/vice president for national wholesaler Mercator Risk Services Ltd., where she was responsible for integrating and implementing the firm’s business processes and management system.

As chief operating officer and vice president of American Wholesalers Underwriting Ltd., a national managing general agent, Beckerman was responsible for overseeing the business design, underwriting guidelines and marketing methods of the program. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the company’s virtual business model and Internet software project.

Maritime General Agency is the program administrator for recreational marine risks written through New Hampshire Insurance Co. and other American International Group member companies.
