Dredge Harbor founder dies

William R. Parsons Sr., founder of Dredge Harbor Yacht Basin in Delran, N.J., passed away July 21. He was 90.

Parsons founded Dredge Harbor Yacht Basin with his brother, Herbert Parsons, in 1939. He was a past member of the Marine Retailers Association of America, Marine Trades Association of New Jersey and State of New Jersey Tidelands Resource Council.

“His talent, vision and foresight were greatly responsible for Dredge Harbor becoming a successful 110-acre full service marina and boat dealership,” the company said in a statement. “He was very proud of this accomplishment and loved the marina, but to Bill his greatest love was his family — his wife, two children and four grandchildren.”

Parsons’ daughter, Tammy Parsons Savidge, and his son, William R. Parsons Jr., now own and operate Dredge Harbor.
