Ghassen Khalek, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission’s Marine Division, will speak at the National Marine Electronics Association convention, scheduled for Oct. 1-4 at the Town and Country Resort Hotel in San Diego.
Khalek’s presentation will begin at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 3.
“The session will cover the AIS and DSC rules from both the U.S. Coast Guard and the FCC,” said Steve Spitzer, NMEA’s technical director, in a statement
. “What are some of the issues plaguing the Coast Guard? How can dealers minimize those issues and make boating safer for the consumer? What does the future looks like for regulations? These are all issues of tremendous importance to dealers.”
In addition to the AIS and DSC rules seminar, the NMEA convention offers dealer training, educational sessions, new-product introductions, and dealer- and manufacturer-moderated debates. Other events include the NMEA awards banquet, an NMEA/FLIR dealer cruise, the Navico Fishing Tournament, and a winery tour.
