Changing Places

Alton J. (A.J.) Evans joined the Newport, R.I. office of Sparkman & Stephens as a yacht broker.

A lifelong boater, Evans has a background in admiralty law. After graduating law school, he maintained his relationship with yachting through brokerage.

He has logged several Newport-Bermuda races among other notable voyages, including a trans-Atlantic and various cruising routes. Evans is a member of the New York Yacht Club, Storm Trysail Club, and Cruising Club of America.

Most recently, Rhode Island Gov. Donald Carcieri appointed Evans to the State Yachting Committee for a three-year term.
